The horrific bushfires on Saturday 7th February 2009 in Victoria has
destroyed over 1800 homes and gardens, and taken many lives.
With all the current plans to enable the fire storm ravaged communities
to re-establish their lives, we too can ‘do our bit’ to help!!
Assistance to rebuild homes may be in place, but will funds extend to the costs of replacing gardens??

It is therefore planned to have a working bee/bbq to bring together all
your spare pots of succulents and to pot up many, many succulent
cuttings to establish over winter, and be distributed in Springtime to
their new homes in Kinglake and Marysville, both destroyed by the fires.
We already have been offered a large area with polythene ‘floor’ and
sprinkler system, but we need you, your spare plants or cuttings of
suitable hardy bedding succulents, and pots and potting mix (if you
can) together with all your food and drinks for what will be a
wonderful as well as rewarding day.
The date of this ‘event’ will be discussed at the meeting on Tuesday 24th Feb.
However if you miss the meeting but want to be part of this initiative
ring Barby (after the 24th) on 9587 3225 (bh) or 0403 0505 16 or
email Barby to find out all the details.
We’ll keep you informed with any changes to the proposal.
