FEROCACTUS (Barrel Cactus) (29 species) Print E-mail

  • SHAPE : Often quite large barrels, globose to cylindrical, sometimes branched.
  • RIBS : Initially with tubercles then with thick and prominent ribs, stem tips are not densely woolly.
  • AREOLE : Large wooly with nectar-secreting glands.
  • SPINES : ell armed with long, thick, stiff spines, the central one often hooked.
  • FLOWERS : Fairly large, bell-shaped or funnelform, during the day in Spring and Summer.
