Grafted cactus on a non-permanent stock has to be degrafted someday.
I use Hylocereus as a grafting stock quite often.
Hylocereus is well suited to Ariocarpus and gives very good growth.
Since Hylocereus is not a permanent stock, I use the following degrafting method.
 1. - 2 years old Ariocurpus retusus, ~10cm diameter |
 2.1 - Breaking off at joint by hand. This is the stock side. |
 2.2 - Scion side. A large cavity on joint part. |
 3. - Fill in rooting powder in the cavity. |
 4. - Dried around 2 weeks |
 5. - Pot for rooting, I use clay base cat litter on top. |
 6. - Fill in wet cat litter in the cavity. |
 7. - Set cactus in pot |
 8. - Put a sheet of tissue on top of the cactus, wait rooting |
 9. - Rooted completely. |
