The day started smoothly from the Camberwell Library car park and then down to Collectors Corner at Gardenworld in Braeside. This short drive to our morning stop was for a toilet beak, visit to the good coffee shop for a cuppa and a chat with friends, as well as to visit the famous and extensive range of cacti and succulents on show and for sale at Collectors Corner. Our timing for each stop was rather critical and so we were off to main event for an 11.00 am appointment at a very private house and garden in a remote area of outer Melbourne. Inside Theo’s amazing greenhouse The bus could barely get down the winding gravel road and then the long
driveway of the country property. Once there, we were joined by two
other car parties of members, (given special exception by organisers). After
a brief introduction by Theo, we headed in all directions of the
extensive gardens and greenhouses. As usual at these sorts of outings a
crowd soon gathered around a large and well set out sales area. Here
there were many bargain priced plants and this was only too obvious at
the speed at which certain plants left the benches. |
