Page 5 of 7 Flowers on most Stapeliads appear in late summer and through all of autumn, and occasionally into early winter. After successful pollination of flowers, fruit develop in the form of a pair of pods or horns joined at the base (and are sometimes called ‘goat horns’ in south Africa). Ripe fruit split open to release pale brown flat seeds which are attached to fine silken ‘parachutes’ which carry the seeds away on the slightest breeze.
