Arriving at the first garden well ahead of schedule we were welcomed by John Martin at his heritage listed house and cactus gardens.
Though the total area of his land was relatively small, in his back yard were truly giant cacti, many as tall as trees and each weighing several ton.
This was literally a small forest of Trichocereus pasacana.
John informed us that that place was up for sale. The first timid sales were followed by a rush to John’s lounge room where all of the old paintings and cactus books were stripped off the walls and shelves - John was very pleased with the sales. |
