FEROCACTUS (Barrel Cactus) (29 species)

  • SHAPE : Often quite large barrels, globose to cylindrical, sometimes branched.
  • RIBS : Initially with tubercles then with thick and prominent ribs, stem tips are not densely woolly.
  • AREOLE : Large wooly with nectar-secreting glands.
  • SPINES : ell armed with long, thick, stiff spines, the central one often hooked.
  • FLOWERS : Fairly large, bell-shaped or funnelform, during the day in Spring and Summer.

There is an extra postage & handling charge of $5.00 for any book priced $20.00 or under.
There is an extra postage & handling charge of $10.00 for any book priced over $20.00.

Full payment is required in advance.
A receipt will be sent only if the customer asks for it, and a S.A.E. is enclosed.

TRICHOCEREUS

  • SHAPE : Large and treelike or tall clusters of stems.
  • RIBS : Usually straight and pronounced even more so.
  • AREOLE : Small to large and wooly.
  • SPINES : Usually spiny, tree form usually strong and thick often falling off with age.
  • FLOWERS : Late Spring/Summer, usually large, funnelform fragrant white and opening at night and finished by mid morning, towards the top of the plant.
