Normal Degrafting
Written by Frank Kamei (G'day Cactus)
Grafted cactus on a non-permanent stock has to be degrafted someday.

I use Hylocereus as a grafting stock quite often.
Hylocereus is well suited to Ariocarpus and gives very good growth.
Since Hylocereus is not a permanent stock, I use the following degrafting method.

Ariocarpus, degrafting
1. - 2 years old Ariocurpus retusus, ~10cm diameter

Ariocarpus, degrafting
2.1 - Breaking off at joint by hand. This is the stock side.

Ariocarpus, degrafting
2.2 - Scion side. A large cavity on joint part.

Ariocarpus, degrafting
3. - Fill in rooting powder in the cavity.

Ariocarpus, degrafting
4. - Dried around 2 weeks

5. - Pot for rooting, I use clay base cat litter on top.

6. - Fill in wet cat litter in the cavity.

Ariocarpus, degrafting
7. - Set cactus in pot

8. - Put a sheet of tissue on top of the cactus, wait rooting
